The Bishop has long desired a name change for the Episcopal Church in Maili on the Waianae Coast. The church is located on "St. John's" road, so the name change builds the sense of connection to place and community. Further, the name change comes at a time when the congregation is experiencing significant change. During an Easter service in 2015, the Bishop celebrated the largest confirmation of his Episcopate to date. More than 50 persons from Pacific Island congregations were confirmed and received. Some were from St. Elizabeth's in Honolulu, but many were from a congregation that has been worshiping in the church in Maili. These new members will join those who've held the Episcopal presence as St. Philip Episcopal Church these last years. Together, they are St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. April 2015
